Tips for a Green Thanksgiving!

The Holiday season often brings on lots of pounds and lots of waste! But with tips for a Green Thanksgiving you can easily minimize the amount of fat and the amount of waste around you this holiday season.

Green during Dinner:

Cloth Napkins can be rewashed and reused!
Eco Friendly Bamboo Plates

Collect for others:

Keep leftover cans from thanksgiving: (green beans, carrots, and other non-perishables) and bring them into a local school near you! Many schools participate in can drives that donate your unused cans to homeless shelters all over the city.

Try a new 'gobble gobble':

Buy a Pastured Turkey: Pasture raised turkeys are low in fat and high in protein. They are also free of hormones, steroids and antibiotics!

Go Organic:

Shop locally and buy organic foods for your table! This removes harmful pesticides and chemicals that you nor the environment need.

Decorating with Nature:

Create beautiful decorations with stuff from your own backyard: Using pinecones, evergreen branches and leaves.

Donate your Compost:

Give your food scraps to a local Neighborhood-Based Food Waste Drop-Off center. You can become a part of the movement to waste less and help make NYC cleaner and greener!

On a side note, at GoGreenRide, we are thankful for this year's growth! We'd like to thank each one of you for riding with us and giving us your feedback. Without your support, loyalty, suggestions and feedback, we would not have been able to make such great strides this year. Wishing you peace, love and happiness. May your hearts be filled with thanks this holiday season.

Event Recap: Voss Foundation Women Helping Women Luncheon

GoGreenRide was proud to sponsor the Voss Foundation’s fourth annual Women Helping Women Luncheon! The event took place on Nov. 14th at Dream Downtown and raised funds to provide African women and their families with access to clean water. Supermodel Selita Ebanks hosted the event, which honored fellow model Maya Halle Samuelsson and her husband, award-winning chef Marcus Samuelsson, for their work improving health in Ethiopia through their Three Goats foundation. The Voss Foundation does extraordinary work helping to fulfill the basic water needs of communities in sub-Saharan Africa. Women and girls are the primary collectors of water and walk many miles to fetch it, leaving them with little time for education or enterprise. The Voss Foundation’s projects afford these women the opportunity to improve their lives and those of their communities.
