GoGreenRide Summer Playlist

Although our GoGreenRide cars let you choose your own tunes via our entertainment iPad, we wanted to share some of our favorite songs as the city begins to heat up with summer weather.

We're digging the latest album from Daft Punk, Random Access Memories, as well as, The Great Gatsby soundtrack, plus some oldies from The Roots, Erykah Badu and Blackstreet. Pharrell Williams takes two slots on our playlist, via his collaborations with Daft Punk in Lose Yourself to Dance and Robin Thicke in Blurred Lines.

What will you be blasting this summer? Share with us via our Twitter or Facebook page.

Event Recap: Girl's Night Out

Our drivers often get to hear about the cool events that our members are off to and it's awesome to get a shout out once we get them there, as was the case last week, after a staff member from Socially Superlative tried us out to get to a Girl’s Night Out Event at Efva Attling with Nars Cosmetics. We're super happy to hear that the ride was a better experience than with a typical yellow cab -- it's exactly what we strive for each day. Hope to have you ride with us soon!

Green Tips from GoGreenRide

As New Yorkers, our mailboxes and apartments are tiny enough and don't need the clutter of unwanted paper mail. The GREENYC website, ran by the City of New York, makes it super easy for you to unsubscribe to mailing lists. Unsubscribing is quick, easy and free, just fill out their easy forms

Here are some cool facts from their site:

  • New Yorkers generate more than 2.5 million tons of paper waste each year - which equals the weight of 7 Empire State Buildings!
  • Reducing the amount of paper we use is a great way to protect the environment. It conserves precious resources like water, wood and fuel.
  • By opting out of unwanted mail, you can eliminate mailbox clutter while helping make New York City greener and greater.

Event Recap: Go Green for Fashion - New York City 2013

On May 9th, GoGreenRide was enthused to present our services to a great, eco-conscious and fashionable crowd at the 2nd Annual Go Green for Fashion NYC event hosted at XVI, a breathtaking rooftop lounge by the Lawrence Blake Group.

The event featured a live runway presentation from some of New York’s favorite eco-friendly fashion designers including STUDY NY and Born Again Vintage. The evening recognized individuals committed to increasing awareness of and the accessibility to the benefits of eco-friendly design and production within the global fashion community. It also featured special live music performances alongside heart-warming speeches from veterans of the green fashion industry, and the entire evening is proud to have benefitted ProjectArt, an NYC-based free arts education organization that allows youth to create art without limits (). Eco-forward lifestyle brand Sprout Watches presented the first 100 guests at Go green for Fashion NYC a complimentary timepiece from their recent collection. GoGreenRide presented new members with special discounts on future rides.

Post-Sandy Job Fair of Greater New York

Just like all of our fellow New Yorkers, GoGreenRide was taken aback by the strength of Hurricane Sandy. Our corporate area in the Bowling Green section of Downtown Manhattan was greatly impacted and we lost access to our building for weeks and ran on generator power for even longer.  To this day, many of our neighboring businesses, which went under, remain vacant spaces and remind us of the power of the hurricane. We are thankful that we were able to continue working on GoGreenRide, but are aware that there are many others who lost a lot more. For this reason, we are happy to be part of the Post Sandy Job Fair, taking place on May 14th at the Resorts World New York Casino in Queens. We will be joining a myriad of diverse industry employers such as Aerotek, Baked by Melissa, British Airways, Duane Reade, Ikea, National Grid, and Wells Fargo, among others.

We will be looking for drivers, copilots and customer service representatives and look forward to meeting some great candidates.

    About the Job Fair:
In the wake of Sandy, so many businesses have wanted to help those affected. The Post Sandy Job Fair for Greater New York offers a means for them to do so in a most significant and long-lasting way - by connecting with job-seekers and offering employment opportunities that will provide the lifeline they really need.
