Member of the Week: Kerri Quigley

Kerri Quigley, graduate of Parsons School of Design and founder of The Fashion Class in New York City, is GoGreenRide's Member of the Week! The Fashion Class offers fashion classes throughout the school year and fashion camp during the summer to children ages 6-13 and teenagers ages 13-18, as well as birthday parties and small or private craft and sewing workshops. Quigley's eager and creative students learn everything from fashion design to sewing to accessory design. After students are done working on their projects, they get to take their designs home and show off their talent by wearing their garments on the streets of New York City!

Quigley loves using GoGreenRide's services to bring her students everywhere from the Punk fashion expo at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute to designer showrooms such as Alice and Olivia and Calvin Klein: "GoGreenRide has solved so many summer camp transportation issues for us. The subway is unsafe and slow, hailing a taxi is difficult; especially when you need 3+ cars and you have young children in the group, and our group is too small for a school bus. GoGreenRide's services are just perfect, plus the kids love watching cartoons on the iPads!"

Visit The Fashion Class's website to register for Fall classes or view the student's work and fashion shows!

Member Of The Week: "Person of Interest"

In 2011, "Person of Interest" premiered on CBS, bringing a new crime thriller to television. Starring Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson and Taraji P. Henson, "Person of Interest" tells the electrifying story of a mysterious billionaire, Harold Finch, who builds a machine for the government that detects acts of terrorism before they even happen. Finch recruits the help of ex-CIA Agent, John Reese, and together they act in secret on the New York City streets to prevent violent crimes that the government considers irrelevant. Working outside of the law, Finch and Reese are continuously hunted by the NYPD, CIA Agents, computer hackers, and government officials.

As "Person of Interest" is filmed in New York City, GoGreenRide has been proud to provide transportation to various personnel working for the series.

Tune in to the season premiere, Tuesday, September 24 10/9c to watch Finch and Reese's thrilling adventures!

Summer Playlist: SummerStage 2013

Summertime in New York City is jam-packed with exciting events and activities, but for music lovers the Central Park SummerStage series is filled with eclectic and varied concerts throughout the summer season. Over 100 free performances will be held at parks across all five boroughs, thanks to City Parks Foundation, bringing a diverse array of performers to a diverse group of New Yorkers!

GoGreenRide is excited to compile some of the SummerStage music to our Spotify playlist for your listening pleasure.

Now to introduce you to some of our favorites:

- She & Him: She & Him is an indie duo made up of actress/singer Zooey Deschanel and country-folk artist M. Ward. Some of their top songs include "I Could've Been Your Girl", "You Really Got A Hold On Me" and "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?" Hear them perform in Central Park on July 6th and July 8th.

- Lila Downs: Come see Lila Downs perform on July 11th in Central Park! Downs is known for bringing her Mexican roots to her music to create a unique Mexican-blues-jazz-soul-African root mixture. Listen to her soaring voice in songs like, "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps", "Zapata Se Queda" and "Paloma Negra".

- Twin Shadow: Don't miss out on watching Brooklyn's Twin Shadow perform live in Central Park on August 17th! Dominican-born George Lewis Jr. creates an alternative pop style of music that sounds refreshing and modern. "Five Seconds", "Golden Light", and "Run My Heart" are some of his most popular tunes.

Member of the Week: Dikembe Mutombo

Known on the basketball court for being one of the top post defenders of all time and known off the court for his abundance of humanitarian work, Dikembe Mutombo truly is one of the "Good Guys in Sports", as Sporting News named him in 1991 and 2000. Mutombo graduated from Georgetown University with bachelor's degrees in linguistics and diplomacy. Upon graduation, Mutombo was drafted to the Denver Nuggets where he received his first of four NBA Defensive Player of the Year Awards. As his career progressed he played for the Atlanta Hawks, Phildadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks and finally the Houston Rockets.

As a Congolese American, Mutombo started the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation to improve living conditions in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Due to his widespread humanitarian efforts, Mutombo was honored by President George W. Bush, earned the Goodermote Humanitarian Award as well as twice winning the NBA's J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award. And if that doesn't convince you of how awesome he is, his new, modern Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital in Congo will!

Dikembe Mutombo loves GoGreenRide and finds the hybrids comfortable and roomy despite his 7 foot 2 inch frame. Thank you Dikembe for going green with GGR!
